It's a little disheartening to hear that many have had interviews scheduled already. I lucked into a chance encounter with one of the panelists for the interviews while shadowing a CRNA at desert regional. He was a super nice guy and had known the assosciate director of the program for some time. Seems like they come from the same small world. Dr Darna said that there would be interviews During the 2nd and third week of January. The closer we get to the new year the more pessimistic my outlook.

I know it's discouraging to hear others get interviews... but don't lose hope quite yet! With interviews, be they be for grad school or jobs, you never really know. Things could be disorganized due to the holiday season, or suddenly something opens up. For example KPSA emailed all their applicants recently that they decided to change their interview process! Don't fret quite yet =)

That's what my sister said last night. Today, I awoke to a notification that I'll be interviewing January 17th! So exciting. Now all I'm worried about is the traffic at 430 in the afternoon leaving Los Angeles.

Congratulations. If possible, you could do school shuttle-union station-flyaway bus route to LAX. Sorry, LA's traffic is really bad....

YES!!! Just got an interview date for Jan 18th. Anyone else interviewing that day.

Interviewing on the 17th. They sent me a primer for the interview saying that we should convey a moderate amount of "nervous excitement" and should prepare for questions regarding critical care situations. It's a 9 hour day, but it actually sounds like a ton of fun. I am nervous because the bulk of my experience comes from er and I've only just begun my icu career. I don't think I'll be as experienced as the other candidates.

I was looking at taking the metro to the metro express. Any experience? I've taken the metro into almeada when I was living in Santa Barbara. Any suggestions?

I definitely have the nervous excitement, I only have 1year of ICU experience, but I have had quality experience. I utilize my CCRN-CMC-CSC knowledge on a regular basis, and I regularly challenge the residents and fellows on my unit, because it makes us both learn. If you have had quality ICU experience and make it a priority to learn, you will be fine. No experience with the metro, I will be driving in from Orange County.

Do you work at UCI? You may work with a bunch of my friends.

I am actually in North Carolina at UNC Medical Center. Born and raised in So Cal, will be staying with my parents in OC when I fly back for interview. But I will be getting a job at UCI when I move back there in May of next year, I have a few connections. What unit do your friends work in?

They're in neuro icu, Pacu, and Er. I'm sure you won't need any help coming back, but I could have them put in a good word. My director (riverside comm) said UNC is legendary though, so I'm sure you won't have any problems. Hopefully we both get in.

What should we expect in the interview? Llu was pretty focused on the pharmacology we put in the application: like mechanism, patho, and interactions.
