DL FNP programs that come with preceptors

I am trying to find all of my options for an FNP program that finds preceptors/ comes with preceptors for their students.

I am in Utah and cannot move in the next few years. I know about the precepting status of the brick and mortar schools around me. I know about a few other schools that are outside of Utah and would only require me on campus a few times a year. That is doable for me. I have asked these schools if they provide preceptors and some say yes. I am right now wondering though if that "yes" is only for students in the city where the school is- IE would they still find preceptors for distance learning students out of state?

I have been researching this for a while and have a good list going, but would like any additions anyone has.

Here is what I have so far:

Westminster (UT) and the University of Utah both provide preceptors. Arizona State University provides preceptors. University of Arizona does not. Georgetown provides preceptors. University of Cincinnati, Loyola New Orleans, USA, UAB, and Frontier do not. OSU only provides preceptors to students in Ohio. Loyola in Chicago does (but I am not sure this is a DL program.)

Schools I am wondering about- are they DL programs that will find preceptors for you where you are?- Vanderbuilt, Samuel Merritt, Yale, Duke, John Hopkins, Simmons, UConn, University of Michigan Ann Arbor

If anyone knows of a distance learning program that provides preceptors for you (where you live) I would love to hear about it.

Thank you in advance!

Hello,

I am on faculty at Samuel Merritt University in the FNP Program. In our program, we collaborate with the student and provide a great deal of assistance in securing sites and preceptors. I cannot say that our program "comes with" preceptors and sites, but we have contracts with many. I like to work with students as far in advance as possible once they know which semester their clinicals will begin, depending on their full or part-time status. If you have further questions, please call the school and ask! I am happy to speak with you about this. You may email me at [email protected]

Best of Luck in your search!

Hi Sharon,

Thank you for the reply. I will send you an email. I am mostly just wondering more details about how this works at Samuel Merritt. Does the state I am in make a large difference in how much help the school can offer?

Thank you
