Since this is a second occurrence, the Board will likely take it very seriously, but your response from this point forward can make a huge difference. You will most likely face a suspension from many stories I have seen here. With that in mind, be proactive and self-report to your state's monitoring or recovery program before the state catches on to you, if possible. It could save you from that suspension because of your initiative.
Lean on your DON's support and although a lawyer may or may not help you should get legal guidance from an attorney experienced in nursing board cases in your state. Documentation of ongoing sobriety (tests, therapy, meetings, or monitoring compliance from before) will also help show your continued commitment to recovery and safe practice.
Most importantly: don't isolate yourself. Reach out to your sponsor, therapist, or peer support. You've come back once, and you can rebuild again with transparency and support.
She hasn't said yet. I'm getting drug tested at Labcorp today . On my way there now . It will show the Norco but in small amt I'm sure . Plus I take Bp med with a diuretic so I hope it's not too dilute. I drank a protein drink to help that but I've had an energy drink and water today 🤦🏻♀️

There is a Facebook group called Nurses in Recovery that you should join. You can get a lot of quicker input there. I am sorry you're going through this. God is on your side!

I diverted one Norco at work and got caught today . I'm terrified. I've been through probation with the MS board of nursing - that was 2019 to 2022 . Does anyone know how the board might respond to a second time? I've been clean for 6 years. This was so stupid of me . I've been with at this LTC center for 5 years and I got hired with them under probation . They are very supportive and DON said she will help me all she can . I just don't know what to expect . Anyone been through this twice?
