Distance Learning Course - Pharmacology In Nursing Practice

Published

I am planning on taking "Pharmacalogy In Nursing Practice" this summer, as a Distance Learning Course. The course is offered at UTA. Has anyone done this before? Do you know of any pro's / con's of taking Pharmacology online? I appreciate any input.

I took Pharm last semester. A nursing classmate of mine took it online. She loved it! Pharm is with so much memorization, and if you've taken pre-req science courses, I think you'd be fine with the on-line class. At my school, only courses that benefit (and don't "hurt") students if taken on-line are even offered on-line! Pharm is one of them.

BTW, I got an "A" in Pharm (SO happy about this-it was tough). Even so, I'm setting a plan to review about 1 chapter a week until the NCLEX. I'm not able to recall a lot of drugs that I memorized! So, if this happens to you after the class (I've talked to classmates with the same problem), don't think it's because of taking it online! It's Pharm! Hope it goes well!

Are you from Texas? I was trying to find an online Pharm course but I live in Missouri, and the only ones I've found require you to be in a program already. I'm on the waiting list, and will get in by fall, but I'd like to get Pharm out of the way.

Thanks!

At UT Arlington you are not required to be in the program to take the course. I think you are very smart to be thinking of taking it before you get in.

I live in Missouri and took the online pharmacology class offered at St. Charles Community College. The class is offered on a pass/fail basis, and you do not have to be in the nursing program to take it. I took it this past semester and passed (I wanted to get it over with before I start the nursing program this Fall). The class required a lot of work and studying, but I enjoyed it and learned alot.
