Distance Education for LPN

I am looking for an online LPN program that I can do the academic part on line and on weekends or for a short period do an intensive clinical portion in a clinical setting. Does anyone know of a program like this. There used to be a program at deaconess.edu but that was sold to Devry and Chamberlain. I have contacted them and have had no success finding the program that even remotely resembles the old program. Please help.

The program that used to be Deaconness is no longer in a student friendly format. There is no longer the option to drop after attaining the LPN level. Nobody has posted about online LPN programs. There are distance programs for LPN to RN, but even they have a clinical component, or in the case of Excelsior, at least a clinical examination. Institutions probably do not have the online format for LPN programs because of inability to set up the clinicals easily and/or inability to profit from the format.

I would even be happy with a blended LPN program, but I have not been able to find any. I hear people talking about them but can't find any. I have 4 small kids and a husband that travels often for work so I need to find a program that I can do the academic portion online but then travel for a weekend or a few weeks to a clinical setting to fulfill my clinical portion of the LPN program. I just don't know any Programs like I have described.

Thank you. I will definitely look into it. It is nice to know there might be hope of finding this type of program. Many thanks again.

Have you looked into Pratt Community College in Kansas? They offer an online LPN-RN option. It is a year long program where your classes are entirely online and your clinical portion in completed twice per year, 3 days a week, 10 hours a day for 6 weeks. Also Valencia Community College in Florida offers online classes meeting once per week for tests and clinical. Hope this help :-)

The school in Kansas sounds interesting. The program in Florida will be too difficult to afford travelling every week for clinicals and testing. I wish there was a program closer in Indiana. The LPN to RN program in Kansas,...I wonder if you have to be a LPN before enrolling. That is usually what I find with similar Programs. I will check it out though. Thank you for taking the time to respond.

I woud suggest looking into the Community ASN College programs. Most if not all the general ed courses are on line. With the exception of A&P and Micro. And of course you would have to have the nursing courses on site and then clinicals. Otherwise I don't know of any other options like this.
