Disorder of the GI System

Hello fellow students and hard-working nurses

I am wondering if anyone here knows a website or a thread that highlight key points of several GI disorders (ie Constipation, Fecal Incontinence, Peritonitis, etc ...) Maybe key signs and symptoms, complications and treatments? We have to create a chart but I think what I have is too long but I am not quite sure what is important and what is not that important.

Our clinical instructor provided us a chart to fill-in and she said if it doesn't fit it's probably filled with not important details.

Her disorders are: Constipation, diarrhea, Fecal incontinence, Celiac disease, Appendicitis, Diverticular disease, Peritonitis, Inflammatory bowel disease, Intestinal obstruction, Disease of the Anorectum.

Any help will be appreciated. Thank you very much!

Google is your friend. So are your nursing books.:)

check you nursing assessment book in the GI section, usually lists several disorders and their s/s- then you can use your other books or google to fill in the rest. I have to admit I giggle seeing fecal incontinence next to peritonitis on a chart though. :-) Slight difference in acuity.
