Discouraged and down about grades

Silly me. Took expensive and hard biology classes (not needed for nurisng school) and I'm on the verge of failing one hard 4 credit course (physiology)

i feel feel like such a failure. So stupid. Who is going to accept me? . I'm already on the verge of barely having a 3.0. No bsn program would want me.. I should just change my major and do something easy to boost my gpa.

Anyone else feel like this sometimes.? How do you overcome it ? I want to be a nurse. I believe nursing is my calling.

I'm sorry you are having such a hard time. But it's important to be realistic. Professional Nursing requires in-depth knowledge and understanding of A & P. If you are having a great deal of difficulty with physiology, nursing may not be the right direction for you. There are other 'helping' professions such as social work & counseling that are not so science-based. Have you considered them? Another alternative may be to consider LPN if your heart is absolutely set on becoming a nurse.

I am in the exact same boat!! I just failed an Molecular Biology class last semester that only pre-med students need, not pre-nursing and my gpa is now a 2.6 Extremely, extremely discouraged. Life gets in the way sometimes but I also believe nursing is my calling as well. Just gotta keep pushing and keep trying, and we can't be discouraged my one class! It happens. There is always recovery.

Sorry for all the typos...failed *a molecular biology class.....can't be discouraged *by one class

If your gpa is too low for a BSN program, have you thought about an ADN program? The gpa requirements are not as high but you can still get a really good education. Don't rule out changing your major just yet. Most people would struggle taking numerous 4 credit biology classes at once. At least now you know what you can and cannot handle when it comes to science classes. When I first started college I took several hard courses at once and I did not pass at least one of them. That did not stop me from pursuing nursing. I took the class over (because it was required), applied to my community colleges program, got in, passed my nursing core classes with A's and B's, and graduated on the Dean's list. I know people will say a good indicator for how you will do in nursing school is based off pre-reqs and entrance exams. This is NOT always true because I am proof of that. I STRUGGLED in A&P, Micro, TEAS V, all those science classes, even one of my professors said they even had a hard time with science classes when they were in school, but this professor went on to teach and co-write some of the most popular nursing books out there. If it's something you really want, NEVER give up on it!

Good Luck!

No matter how hard it can be.. even when people may say its over for you, you're never stuck! There are many paths one can take to get to their final goal. What may work for one, or many, may not work for you. There are always other options. Take time to reflect on how bad you want this, and what you're willing to sacrifice to make it happen.

I've read many amazing posts on AN from people of all ages, background, and lifestyles who overcame their personal challenges becuase they had drive. They wanted a change and made it happen.

You only "fail' when you stop trying. Best of luck to you.

PS: I apologize in advance if this post sounds like a PSA :)
