I've been reading this site for some time and just wanted to ask a quick question of some of you.
I will be sending in a declaratory order very soon to the board of nursing in my state. I had a misdemeanor from 15 years ago.
When I printed the paperwork from their site, there is a form asking for my previous work history fro the last 10 years. Well, this I am very scared of!!
I have about 3 or 4 jobs from 4 years ago that I just walked out on. I know this sounds very bad, but I was wondering if I should put these jobs down.
I think I should not put these jobs down because it will make me look that much worse. The reason I left these jobs is because I was not ready to return to work after my son was born and I thought I was. Another reason is because I was also a medical assistant at the time and hated every minute of it.
So, I have been a stay at home mom for the last few years, since these jobs. But now I have decided to go back to school and am currently taking pre-req's for the nursing program.
So, what should I do? I just don't know what to do. I was hoping someone on here could give me some advice. What would you do if you were me?
And if I don't put these jobs, will they find out? Is there any way they could?
Thanks

Depending on the type of form they give you, It could be concidered pergery to lie on them. I wouldn't lie anyways. Now is the time to make sure there won't be a problem later, after your done with pre-reqs. You can always switch your major if you have to. Now is the time to find out.

DISCLOSE THEM. If you don't, it will be discovered later (you are tied to those jobs by your social security number). This is too important to risk losing everything on. If they question you, explain your reasons for leaving the jobs.
Do you think they would still license me, with both of these things on there? I know I look pretty bad on paper, are they that strict?
I don't think your job history will hurt you that much, however, it would be a lot better to find out now if it will affect you. It's a lot better then going through your major and finding out then. Most of the classes you are taking for pre-reqs will be required for another major if you have to change. Much better not wasteing your time.
Yeah, I think it's better to just tell them everything and write an explanation letter about it. I would rather do that than worry the whole time about getting caught lieing.
Thanks for all of your advice.

I would not lie. Remember- the BON is a state agency and so is Employment Security/Unemployment. For all jobs worked, someone has paid into unemployment under your SSN and that information is available as it is reported and even listed on the companies unemployment tax returns!
Now wether it goes back that far is anyone's guess, but I know I would never chance it! (I used to work for a Payroll company).
