Can a discharge RA or RNA be signed as completed the same day as the ARD?

Yes? I thot completion dates.were suppose to be atleast 1 day after the ARD. The ARD for a dc.is the.discharge date. So how can completion be the same? And...why would u want it to be? You only have.14 days to export it and if u have many beds and a high acuity...we take advantage of those "completion" dates.

If the resident leaves the facility @ 10 am, you can start completing the MDS @ 10:01 am then sign it when complete, all on the same day.

The reason it is recommended to start completion of the MDS after the ARD is because you need to capture the resident's condition or status up to the end of the observation period which ends @11:59 pm of the ARD. Since the resident is already gone @ 10 am, his observation period has also ended.

For some, it may be beneficial to get it all done the same day before the medical records are stripped and stored in a different location.
