Thanks for all of your responses to all of my previous posts. As you probably assume, I'm evaluating all of my options including ADN, BSN, and Direct-Entry MSN. The direct entry programs look extremely appealing, but seeing that they are at the best of colleges, I don't know how easy they are to get in.
Does anyone know what the typical GPA, scores, acceptance rates of these programs are? Anyone have any experience applying?
I'm in MD, so I'd consider Hopkins, but Columbia, MGHI in Mass, Case Western, Vanderbilt, Pace, and Yale also look appealing.
Seeing as nursing traditionally isn't an "ivy league" profession, are the credentials required for these programs less than what a typical "ivy" student would need?
I'd love to hear experiences with any programs.........
Thank you all so much!
You'll all be in my prayers, and I look forward to hearing good news from you too!!!
P.S. to Raymond, it's the accelerated generic MSN. We start school sooner 3-4 months sooner than the Accelerated BSN program. Good Luck.
Seahorse, that's greatabout your SFSU admission! As someone else just said, now you'll probably end up being in a position to turn one of the two schools down. At any rate, you are in and on your way. I'm so happy for you.
Ray, to answer your question about my education, I have a master's in psychology, a doctorate in psychology and a master's in anthropology. So glad to hear about your interview at Samuel Merritt.
Whoever's eloping (it's so hard to remember all these names/handles by the time I start writing the replies!), congrats and enjoy your much needed break from all this direct entry stuff.
Thanks to the several of you who wrote such supportive and encouraging responses to my disappointment re: Vanderbilt (knowing at best I'll be on a wait list of unknowable length and not knowing about that yet either) and uncertainty about MGH.
I know it's not yet time for Plan B, but it's taking more and more shape all the time...and I'm feeling better about it. But more about that another time.
What's going on with the mail and UCSF for everyone who's waiting? Chris, I guess you're still a couple of days away by mail, but a couple of folks lived a little closer than that...I hope some good news is on the way.
Good night all, and thanks again for being here/there/everywhere in this virtual world of ours.
Hi Everyone,This morning I was in the post office mailing off my letter to UCSF asking them to reconsider my application, when I got a a call from SF-State, where I'm wait-listed, and I'm in! :chuckle
What a relief! I still have my heart set on UCSF, but at 44 years old I feel anxious to get into a program before I reach retirement age :uhoh21:
Of course I'm still holding out a slim hope that UCSF will call in off their wait-list.
Congratulations Seahorse!! :balloons: That means you've got "one in the bag"! That's great feeling! If one waitlist can open up, then another one can too! I'm keeping positive vibes going for you!

Congratualations! My wife and I didn't exactly elope, but we had only our immediate families and a handful of friends at ours. 12 guests altogether. My good friend Devin was the Deacon (his last job at our cathedral before going back to Massachusetts to be ordained a priest) and our friend Ann was the Priest. Small Episcopalian service on Dec. 28th, '04. Any bigger and it would have overwhelmed us! Small is better, if you ask me.
ChrisA,
:) Small is feeling very cosy too for us. There is so much stress in other things and we did not want to add to it. We have the license and Saturday is the day.
Thank you,
Gennaver
p.s. I am a big fan of practicality and for us, small-elopement is

Woooohooooo .... you deserve to celebrate :balloons: :balloons: :balloons: :balloons:
I love this forum- but this is one example where it causes more stress. Knowing that your letter is en route- but not knowing whether it contains good news or bad!![]()

= )
Jess, I use you as my 'early warning system' for letters from BC or MGH. Since I'm at work all day, I figure that I'll hear from you during the day if any letters arrive. Then I'll brace myself before sprinting home to my mailbox !!
Haha ... do admission committees' know what they are doing to us ?!?!?!?!

LOL, tell me about it! I think they do- but don't care!
Well, I got my mail today and.... nothing! My prediction is that we'll hear from BC this Friday and MGH next Wednesday. We'll see how my powers of prediction play out!

I am going away for the weekend (leaving fri a.m. not coming back until monday) I'm not sure I'll be able to take it thinking a letter may just be sitting in my box all that time!
