Hello ~
How do you deal with there being different prerequisites for different schools? Is there a website that will allow you to compare schools with the same requirements? I'm looking at 3 different schools now, and they all have different requirements, so if I follow one path, I may not have a chance at the other schools. Help. ?
I was also a California kid scrambling around for the myriad ABSN pre-reqs not so long ago. '
Just wanted to throw out another random school that helped me a lot. I ended up needing Pharmacology and something else--can't even remember which one now ----but i ended up taking them online at of all places the
University of North Dakota!
I know, I mean, WTH?
Completely random, never set foot in that state before or since.
They just had a a wide online curriculum and charged in-state tuition for distance courses. Was a little more than an average local CC but a huge lifesaver. Actually, I forgot I even 'went' there until reading this thread. That is sad. I think I utilized 4 different schools for the pre-reqs but managed to do it in a single year. Crazy what we'll do.
Good luck all!
I know what you're going through! I'm plugging away at prereqs for a dozen different schools. Like others have said, most nursing programs have a certain core of classes that are required (A&P, Micro, Dev. Psych., etc) but it seems that each program has an odd one thrown in there for good measure. This fall I'm taking Chem I at one school and Micro at another. It was the only way for me to be able to take them both and get them knocked out before applying for Fall 09.
Check with the schools you're applying to and see if they allow any substitutions. I know one of the places I'm applying to doesn't require Chem I like most colleges, but they allow you to sub it in for their required computer class and nutrition class. You can save yourself a lot of time that way. Most schools have a transfer equivalency part of their website where you can check to see if courses will transfer, and that could save you some time too. I don't know if this applies to anyone, but most schools don't require you to re-complete their specific gen. ed. requirements (non-nursing stuff like english and p.e.) if you already have another degree. Hope this helps and good luck!

A few years ago it was $11/unit. I wouldn't be that jealous, we may have lower per unit fees at our CCs, however pretty much everything else is more expensive than in NC.
