The main difference is that in one program all your classmates will be nurses, while in the other program, you will have people from different backgrounds---clinical and non clinical.
Actually, and this is what I found surprising about my program, I am taking some classes with pharmacists, IT focused individuals and even some medical residents. It truly is interdisciplinary. My program really emphasizes interdisciplinary collaboration and they walk the talk for sure. I was apprehensive about getting a nursing informatics degree vs a health informatics degree, but my worries have dissipated. I am taking a database class, and at some point will take a systems design class I think next summer is when it is. I am also taking a python class that is not required but it may be helpful.
