Did You Write in January?

Published

I wrote the CPNRE this past Wednesday, and I'd like to hear your thoughts if you did as well. Of course, not getting into detail about content.

I was a nervous wreck about taking the exam, and did not feel prepared that morning. After doing much research online about past exams, I was expecting it to be brutally hard. But I left feeling that it was quite fair, and that I might actually stand a chance at passing. But I've had exams in the past where I thought I did well and... Not the case.

Maybe feedback is being considered? Maybe I really did mess it up? How do you feel about it?

Yep I wrote it too! I also thought it seemed like a fair exam. People were scaring me beforehand, telling me that there was a lot of "this" or "that" on the test... Personally, I didn't find any one area to be of particular focus. They really asked a broad range of questions about all aspects of nursing.

I felt pretty confident coming out of the exam, but the more I think about it the more I start to doubt myself lol.. So, I'm just trying not to think about it, and hopefully I did okay!

How long did you spend studying/preparing for the exam? I just started studying a week beforehand

Ah! Thank you, I feel the same way- the more I think the more I doubt. I started studying about a week before Christmas using Saunders, mosby 's and random online resources including CNO.

I wrote it. It wasn't as tough as I imagined it to be but I feel as though not everything in my program was represented.

I admit I didn't study that much for it. Shortly after grad I was packing my house to move across the province and then Christmas and then unpacking, not a lot of study time. I did use the prep book a bit.

Did everyone pass the exam ? what materials did you use ?

YAY I passed!!!

khalida_k: To study for the test I used the CPNRE prep guide book (4th edition). I don't like flipping through so many pages so I just did the CD instead. I thought it was great because you can check the answers as you go. When I got a question wrong, I would simply jot down the rationale so I would remember.

Then I used the prep tests that you can purchase online. After you complete each test, it lets you go back and see the correct answers. I also jotted down a few rationales that I got wrong. I think focusing on the rationales behind the questions is the most important thing you can do. After all, even though the questions on the test may be different, the rationales are going to be the same or similar!

After all that, I briefly skimmed through all of my college notebooks. When I say brief I really mean brief. There's not enough time to read everything slowly. When I came across certain things I felt were important and didn't remember, I jotted them down. I focused a lot on common diseases, common medications, common nursing skills, common lab values, common electrolyte imbalances, etc. Key word: COMMON.

When it was all said and done, I put all my notes into one notebook and skimmed through that once or twice.

Good luck!!

I passed. I don't have study tips because I didn't. My program prepared me well for the exam.

I passed! However, that 4 weeks of waiting was agonizing. I came out of the exam centre totally unsure and each day of waiting made the feeling worst. I even started studying again just in case. In terms of study tips, I practiced on the cpnre prep guide and based on my result, I brushed up on my weak areas. I purchased the predictor tests. I got 95-100% chance of passing. I also briefly went back to my fundamentals of nursing and med surg textbook. I have been using the saunders nclex pn since I started the nursing program. Again, I went back and study on my weak areas based on my result from the prep guide. I also used Mosbys Nclex PN as additional resources. Most of all, I think my program prepared us well. All of my nursings friends and their friends in the program passed. Good luck to everyone writing in May! Believe in yourself.

I PASSED!!í ½í±í ½í¸..sooo happy . The exam was fair and really based on your nursing knowledge and skills. Study tips: I started studying 2 months before the exam. My old notes for 2yrs, Patho, Med surg, most of all Nursing Foundation, Pharm, Maternity& Pediatrics, HEAS. Then at least 25 Q's each day and my other resources were Mosby's NCLEX RN , Prep U NCLEX RN online, Youtube Videos. **ALWAYS ALWAYS go back and review your old NOTES!!!!** And ☝️don't forget to PRAYí ½í¹ most powerful. GOODLUCK!
