I passed my NCLEX-RN in 2007 for BON Hawaii but didn't process my ID licence number because I'm currently working as registered nurse in the UK. Do I have to retake my NCLEX-RN?

You may not need to retake the exam. However, you'll likely need to meet specific licensing requirements to activate or reinstate your Hawaii RN license.

To confirm the exact steps, I would recommend contacting the Hawaii Board of Nursing directly for guidance on reactivating your RN license. They can provide the most accurate information on whether you need to retake the NCLEX-RN or if there are other conditions to meet.

If you're planning to practice as an RN in Hawaii again, you might need to:

  • Submit a licensure application to the Hawaii BON
  • Provide proof of your current RN status and employment in the UK (apply by endorsement)
  • Meet any continuing education or competency requirements

If you're not planning to work in Hawaii and instead want to work in another state or country, each jurisdiction has its own rules about license reinstatement and eligibility, so it's best to check those specific requirements as well.

Best wishes,
