Did I make recruiter mad?

Published

I dont know what to make of this. I asked my recruiter for the numbers on a particular assignment. She replied with something like 22 base + 240/week for MI=32/hr+ stipened 2k/month. Hosp can cancel up to 36 hours per assignment plus the 1st week hours are not guaranteed either. And OT is 40.

I replied back and wonder if she miscontrued my tone because 6 hours later here and I havent heard back. I asked her how she is calculating that the 240MI/wk is equivalant to making an extra 10/hr because its nowhere close to 10/hr. I mean, who wouldnt question something like that??? Uggh.

Can't address tone in an email you haven't shared, or motivation if any of a recruiter who hasn't replied in 6 hours.

There are all kinds of ways to analyze compensation and if someone says something that seems strange, play a bit with the numbers. For example, 36 hours x $10 is $360. Less a third for taxes equals $240. So $240 net (not taxed) is like making $10 an hour taxable wages.

Uhh, yea, I figured as much. Seems like a pretty sneaky way to present the pay IMO. But nonetheless, I am not going with them now (novapro). Found a diff company and my recruiter is the owner, no other ppl work there. Small company means more money. He submitted me for a job much closer. The hourly is 18, mi 380/week, stip 2200/mo. Housing is super cheap, so i will bank over half that stipend. And the best part is OT after 36 at 54/hr. 500 for travel. Will take me 3 hours to get there. The novapro job is 2k miles away, and would only get a 600 reimbursement with a silly OT rate after 40 hrs. The Novapro job was near Boston.
