Did not get accepted?

Published

Just got my letter today and was not accepted. My undergrad GPA is 3.4, I have a BS in Biology and according to the LSU advisor all parts of my application and interview were great. She told me that I was "simply outranked" by other applicants. Is this common for first time applicants with degrees?

Also, what is this examination that is required for next year? Any info. or study guides around?

Thanks

unc chapel hill (in NC) -- my program asked for 3 letters, I sent 5.

yeah at LSUE they specifically told us NOT to send letters of recommendation; that they would be thrown out.

also, they dont care at all if you have a bachelors degree. i have one and i didnt get in. all they look at is GPA. (which i dont find to be fair but hey i dont make the rules, lol)

every school has different criteria. it's a shame that so much emphasis is placed on gpa, since it reveals only one aspect of the person. maybe in your program, applying a second time shows how committed you are & sets you ahead of the next batch of candidates? also, make sure you tell them WHY having a bachelor's degree in biology is a strength & how it will enhance your success in the nursing program -- incorporate this into your interview & personal letter.

trust me, i would have if they gave us the chance. unfortunately, we dont have interviews and we dont get to write personal letters. they're not interested. they ONLY look at GPA. in the given situation where they're down to the last few spots but have, lets say, 30 people with the same GPA - then they pull the applications to see who has certifications such as LPN, paramedic, emt, etc. its really sad that they do it that way but even worse - they dont offer any kind of help to those of us who didnt get in. i would just like some transfer help from them. that would be really nice right about now.
