There are some supervisor's like that. You have to do what is best for you. It is very hard to balance school and work. So, it sounds like you made a good decision. Since you have experience, you may want to see if you can find an agency that can work with your schedule. They may be able to find something for you part-time.
Hi..I feel so bad because I have been a CNA at this nursing home for 6 years and I am now in my last semester of school and it's getting hard to balance the two...so I had to quit work because my supervvisor was not willing to work between my classes. She told me I was doing it just because I am about to finish school and that I should not burn my bridges because it will be hard to find a job since I quit....Did I do the right thing??
Grade "0" to your supervisor, dear. Everybody I know that went to nursing school had to reduce their load of work at some point. Most of the supervisors I know work around nursing student's schedule. Look for a supervisor that deserves you and your 6 years of dedication.
While I was doing my prereqs and my PN program, my supervisor helped me to stay working. So for 4 years I was able to work and go to school. Sounds like your sup has a bad attitued. Go out and find yourself a better job, or better yet, go to HR and see if the can change your status to PRN and that way you can still work (when you want) and then when you graduate, you can work a real schedule again.
