I'd like to know how the career fair in Pasadena hosted by Nurse Week was (2/25/10). Did the hospitals say that they have openings for new grads? One seminar was called "is it really a nursing shortage?" What did the person who did the presentation say? Was it worth for a new grad going to the career fair? I was really bumed that I wasn't able to go, but I'm curious how it was.
Thanks.

I thought I saw something about it being slanted toward RNs only, so I didn't bother. Have been to career fairs before and found them to be a waste of time and effort.

The career fair was OK, and some tables were more helpful than others. It was good for me to go because I'm not from LA so it was great way to get to know more hospitals around the area.
Only a few hospitals said they will be having a new grad program in the summer. They are not sure exactly about the time frame, but want us to keep checking on their website.
I didn't go to the seminar where they talked about if there is really a nursing shortage.
I hope this helped.
Thanks for your inputs. I also wanted to ask new grad RNs who attended the career fair as to if the hospitals were there to recruit (pre-screen) new grads. Another words did they ask you questions about yourself etc.? or were they simply there to give out information about their hospital?
Thanks so much.
