The most important thing for you to do as a new dialysis nurse is to get as much extra training as possible. This may mean going to dialysis inservices and seminars on your own dollar. The knowledge gained from getting these nephrology nursing specific ceu's will help get you on the road to certification, either as a certified hemodialysis nurse, or, if you have your bachelors degree in nursing, a certified nephrology nurse. If you want to suceed in nephrology nursing/dialysis nursing, you need to gain all the information available. The desire to become certified is what separates the professional nurse from the mediocre nurse.
