Dialysis nurse transfixed blood thru dialysis port

I had a dialysis nurse transfused me through my venous access. I asked her what she was doing and she said she did this all the time and it was a faster easier way to transfuse.

It has bothered me ever since, and it was a couple weeks ago. Is this a normal practice?
