Hey Everyone!
So, I'm a San Francisco, California resident with 4 years of outpatient dialysis. Out of nursing school in the saturated, bay area market I was desperate for work and eventually got my first job in dialysis out in the central valley. After working there for 2 years I was able to move back to San Francisco, but stayed in dialysis.
I realized that dialysis nursing was not the fit for me and took this year off to travel and do some soul-searching. As many know, landing a job in a hospital in SF as a new grad is hard, but it's also challenging as a nurse without acute care experience. I gained very valuable and transferable skills in my role as a dialysis RN and have no doubt that I will succeed in the hospital environment. I spent 1 year working as a clinical coordinator for a 140 patient facility and was being prepared for a clinical manager position when I realized that my passion is at the bedside.
I am willing to relocate to another state in order to gain valuable acute-care experience. My question is, who is open to hiring nurses without acute care experience? I speak Spanish at an intermediate level and have spent much of this year in Spanish-speaking countries to further my language development.
I'm open to working in almost any area of nursing in the hospital. I would appreciate any advice and suggestions.
Thank you!
