Hi everyone, I am a senior nursing student and have started the process of applying for jobs for June 2012. I was hoping to start this thread so people could share if they have heard back from any of the hospitals. So far I have applied to UTSW and Baylor and am just waiting to hear back. Has anyone applied anywhere else?
Ok so I've gotten to interview at Baylor and Parkland.I'm trying to sort out which one of the two would be the best to work for. Can y'all help me out?Parkland has the best educational program (8 months of rigorous didactic & clinical through all ICUs and ED.) Would learn all about vents, titrating vasoactive drips, disease pathology, ect. They also pay the best for new grads in the area. Cons- very old facility, pt population may lead to a very high stress environment, they perform no cardiac surgeries, and have gotten in hot water by CMS for many infractions and has the possibility of having funding pulled if they are not corrected in one year, and they require you to sign a 3 year contract ($18.5K penalty for breaking it)Baylor Dallas- Pros very well respected hospital (I would feel very safe taking my kids there), they rank in the top of the nation in certain specialties, would probably have a better work environment- nicer facilities, lower stress level, perform all types of cardiac surgeries, and do not require you to sign a contract.Con- from what I have heard (not first hand from HR though) they do not pay very well, their education internship is only 3 months- not as in depth as parkland. So which facility would y'all prefer? Any and all feedback is appreciated!
