Hello future nurses,
I wanted to start a thread for those seeking residency at JPS to share their thoughts, feelings, etc. How's the process going so far? Who has interviews? I did a quick screening and was then sent a link to sign up for interviews, waited all day for an email regarding interviews and was 30 minutes too late and it seems that all the interview slots are filled out. I'm quite bummed out to miss out on the opportunity but will be looking for open slots. I hope those who got offers to other facilities remember to cancel their interview to give that opportunity to someone else. Anyway, I wish everyone good luck and look forward to hearing about everyone's experience in this process.

Hello! I am an internal employee at JPS and applied for the residency. For this cohort they did do things differently and interviewed internal employees first, and the externals were "left" with whatever positions that were not filled. Also the sign up email is new LOL. They weren't doing that before. It's extremely competitive at pretty much any hospital these days, ESPECIALLY when it comes to speciality units like women's services, ER, and the ICU. My biggest piece of advice for all nursing students is to apply as early as possible. You should Know when each hospital opens up there application dates and apply that same day. The earlier the better. Secondly, I STRONGLY ADVISE if possible that you get a position at the hospital you desire to work at. For example if you want to work in the ICU try to find a job as a tech in ICU at that hospital. Even if it's PRN. Most (if not all) hospitals are going to hire internally first, especially if you already work on that floor. Regardless do not give up, and keep applying. I got the job in the unit I wanted but it was a fight to get there LOL. You will get the job you want. Stay positive and do not get down on yourself. You worked hard to get this degree so with that you should be proud. You got this!!!
good luck everyone!
