DFW Experiences

Hello,

I am doing a little bit of research on possible upcoming opportunities. I have lived in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area my entire life, so I am familiar with the area.

I will be graduating in August with my BSN. I am an older (46) graduate (accounting/finance background).

I looking for advice from current BSN RN's who have worked at any of the DFW hospitals.

I would like to hear about any aspects of the personnel-side of the job that you are comfortable sharing:

Pay levels

Promotion opportunities

Shift differential opportunities

Management (I know this changes from unit to unit)

12 hr or 8 hr shifts

Vacation

Ability to switch shifts with another nurse

Atmosphere

Patient Nurse Ratio

Patient PCT Ratio

Odd expectations

Etc

Anything I might have forgotten........

I do understand that I may not have a lot of options as a new grad, especially in this market, but this something for me to be prepared for before I start looking.

I am looking for honest truth, even if I will not like it.

If you are not comfortable sharing here, please email me directly at [email protected].

All responses are confidential and will be used for my general knowledge ONLY.

Thank you in advance for your help!!
