DFW area nursing job market

Hello,

I've been trying to branch out of my specialty and enter ICU but the Dallas job market seems rather difficult.  I spoke with a traveler who was new to the area and she said that DFW was the most difficult place she has ever tried to get a job.  She said that it took her longer than ever to find work and thinks it is related to oversaturation.  People from all over see DFW as a nice place to live and work and flock to this area.  Does anyone know of resources to find a market that would be more favorable to the job seeker?

I am in my late 40s and think I'm also battling ageism.  The 20-something crowd seem to be getting all the jobs.
