DeSales University Accelerated BSN 2015-2016

Published

Hi everyone! I received a phone call today that I am accepted to the DeSales Accelerated BSN program and will receive a letter in the mail soon with further details.

I was just wondering who else would be in the cohort. I'd love to get a Facebook group going to keep in touch until the program begins in case we have questions/concerns.

I am also still waiting to hear back from other programs and need help making my final decision. I really know nothing about PA since I have always lived in NYC. Before I commit to the DeSales' program, I definitely need to figure out where I would live and how I would get to clinical sites. If there are any members currently in the program or alumni, I'd really appreciate it if you could list the clinical sites or if you know whether or not they are accessible by bus/train. I looked up transportation in PA and found the LANta transportation authority, but it wasn't too much help since I don't know where the clinical sites are. Thank you all in advance!

Okay I might have to look into apartment near by as well. I don't know if I'm brining my car out though so that might be difficult.

You will need a car to travel to the clinical sites. I haven't been to that part of PA but will visit before the May start. There is a lottery system you need to enter if you want on campus housing. If I don't get the housing I will have to look for an apartment and potential roommates off campus.

If anyone finds good off campus housing please post the area or apartment name, ive been looking around but not sure what area is safe and/or close commute to the school.

Ya that's what I'm afraid off. I'm going to need a car but I doubt I will have one. Maybe just public transportation or maybe getting rides with other students in my clinical group! I am in the same situation with the housing too

Looks like Allentown, Bethlehem and coopersburg are close neighboring areas.. Seem to be kind of expensive though. And hopefully there are some kinds of transportation because I read a lot of threads and people said the school is in a boring area with basically nothing to do or find close by .. Not sure how true this is

Has anyone talked to previous students of the accelerated nursing program?

I haven't talked to anyone. I did see a former student graduated and was working in Florida right after.

I personally know a graduate of the accelerated program. She liked some classes and hated others, very stressed but that's typical of any accelerated program

does anyone know what day we start? or when we should technically be on campus?

Has anyone finished their background check and fingerprinting? if so how much was it all? i paid for the background check and was around 60 and then did the fingerprinting and now it says i need to pay more?

So I emailed one of the professors who is in charge of admissions and she said may 16 @5pm is meet & greet. Orientation is 5/19 and the first day of class is 5/20... I did my background check, fingerprinting and everything. At the end it cost me around $200-$300 for everything. Since I'm from NY I had to pay an extra $80.

Ya so far I've done about 150. But I just got an email saying the meet and greet is March 16. I don't believe I will be there. I'm bummed
