Dermatology CAREER

I'm interested in a career in Dermatology, cosmetic and regular dermatology (sorry don't know the official terminology for regular dermatology). I'm currently half way through a family NP course from Drexel and was wondering does anyone have any suggestions as to how I should approach this career choice. My background is in emergency medicine and I want a career change from the emergency room. I joined the Dermatologic Nurses Association and have been a member for 2 years now. I also looked into board certification which requires I have 3 years experience before I take the exam. Any advice? Thanks, PTSD

Have you talked to any NPs who specialize in derm? Any Derm providers? I would suggest getting involved with derm providers in your area, and doing some of your clinicals with one/some. Then you will have contacts and at least minimal experience with to base your job hunt on.

thanks for your advice zmansc. No I haven't talked to anyone yet I plan on doing that after the holidays. Great advice thanks.
