DePaul MENP Winter 2012

Published

Has anyone applied to or been accepted to DePaul's MENP program for the winter 2012 cohort?

How does this program campare with RUSH's GEM?

They both are the same amount of time, but quality wise I can't be sure. I've been able to find more past students talking about the MENP program, but Rush's has not been around as long. I know one person who has completed the MENP and is now a FNP, but besides that I don't know much besides what other students on here have said.

Well, it is highly unlikely that one individual student would attend BOTH programs. I am curious about program reputation and ability to find a job upon completion. Rush has interviews and I saw the campus while DePaul does not so I am really quite fuzzy about DePaul's program. Thanks for the info, though.

No, I meant she only went to DePaul. Since Rush appears to be a more selective program it may be the better one.

I only ask about reputations because I really do not know the answer. Is a Rush grad more or less or equally likely to get a job after graduation than a DePaul grad?

@nibs2, are you going to go to DePaul MENP?

I don't really know either, but you may be able to find a way to talk to students or ask the school about job placement afterwards. I haven't made my final decision yet, but DePaul was the only program I applied to. Has anyone applied to both?

Yeah, I did! And accepted at both.

Congrats! Well maybe the best thing to do now is try to get as much info as you can before you choose.

I am waiting for DePaul's packet-o-stuff in the mail!

Then I will be able to compare a bit better. I still am interested in knowing more about each program's reputation in Chicago. Also, where does University of Illinois at Chicago's program fit in (did not apply and different type of program)?

For UIC's program you have to pick a specialty area upon application. If you read the FAQ's it also says that the program typically spans from 3.5-5.5 years. After the first 15 months you are eligible to sit for the NCLEX, but I believe the remaining portion is mostly only available part time depending on the specialty. I somewhat forget because I stopped looking into this program, but it's all on their website.

spore2008, which did you decide? I am in the same boat and curious what your decision was. Thanks!
