DePaul MENP Fall 2014

U.S.A. Illinois

Published

Hello All,

I was recently accepted into DePaul's MENP program starting this fall. Anybody else accepted?!

CONGRATS TO YOU ALL!!!

I graduated from the MENP program in 2012 and would be happy to answer any questions you may have :)

does anyone know how much the program costs?

Hi Sunshine521, What would say the pros and cons of this program would be? What was the job outlook like after you graduated from DePaul? How were you prepared for the NCLEX exam? Did you have any difficulties with having to travel for clinicals and do you plan to continue your education in nursing in terms of specializing and such? Sorry for the tons of questions and thanks in advance for your input!

Hi Sunshine521,

I am hoping to enter the MENP program. I am a career changer adult. Did your cohort have any older students?

How difficult is it to work part-time during the program?

Did any students have a difficult time, or were dismissed from the program? Or were the profs helpful in that regard? I read some posts posted by someone who was dismissed, and this worried me since I plan to continue working through the program.

Any additional books or study materials that you found helpful? Or suggestions to prepare in advance?

Thank you,

Cat

does anyone know how much the program costs?

From what I read, over $600 per credit hour. About ~$70k for two years I think.

Last question- what is the format like? Is it mainly multiple choice exams to prep for NCLEX, or essay writing?

Hi everyone, how exactly can you tell if your were admitted or not, based on campus connect?

Thanks!

Just got an email saying I was accepted (to the Rosalind Franklin campus!)

Anyone else?!

The cost of the program is about $70k from what I hear

Congratulations to you all! I was wait-listed for the Fall 2014 cohort, but they guaranteed a seat for me in the Winter cohort 2015! I received an acceptance email, but I haven't filled out the intent to enroll form yet.

How did you like the program Sunshine521? I heard mixed reviews...

Specializes in Surgical/Trauma ICU.

Congrats to everyone! Pugluv, I had originally applied for the Fall 2012 Cohort but got waitlisted and guaranteed a spot in Winter 2013. I currently have two quarters left :) If anyone has any questions now or throughout their time in the program, I'd be more than happy to offer some tips and advice.

As far as the program goes, in my opinion, there are some moments where you feel the whole thing is completely disorganized, but from what I've heard from others, every program is like that. It's going to be a tough two years, but you learn a lot, and I've met a handful of DePaul MENP alums who are very successful right now in their nursing careers :)

Thanks for the response!

A few main questions:

1) are there any scholarships at all available?! Any financial aid or anything? The $70k price tag is very overwhelming to me

2) I'm pretty intelligent but certainly not a total brainiac. I am concerned about being successful in the program... Do they help students who may be struggling? Or is it simply "fend for yourself and fail if you can't hack it"?

3) where are the clinicals located? Can I request certain clinicals that are close to my home?

4) do you have any time at all for anything other than school? Or does it completely encompass your entire life?

I really appreciate any answers or advice you can offer!
