@oh191 I got accepted to Depaul MENP program for the Fall 2013, Im nervous but excited!

Hi all,

Congrats to those who got in! Does anyone know around when we can start registering for our classes?

Hi All:

Congratulations to all of you on your acceptance to DePaul's Master's Entry to Nursing Practice (MENP) program! I work in the Office of Graduate Admission at DePaul. An email invitation for orientation will be sent out this week. Orientation will be on Friday, May 17 with an optional open house and tour of the simulation lab in the School of Nursing from noon-1:30pm. A formal presentation with faculty, a financial aid representative, and a College of Health and Science student representative will take place at 2pm in the DePaul Welcome Center. You will learn more about the curriculum, clinical experience and general expectations as you begin the program.

If you have any questions in the meantime please feel free to contact me, Sarah Harmon, at [email protected] or 773.325.8361. Also we do have two cohorts starting this fall 2013 term at the Lincoln Park Campus and at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science in North Chicago, IL (about 40 miles north of the city). Fall 2013 admitted students have the option to choose their cohort location.

Welcome to DePaul!

Best,

Sarah Harmon

@mdecas. In regards to your question about the differences between the MS with a major in Nursing and the MSN, in most cases there there is no difference at all. The different titles of the degrees often only signify a difference in the way the university titles its degrees (i.e. university governance).

When you are dealing with reputable/regionally accredited schools, the standards will be equally rigorous regardless of how the governance of the school is organized. As a result, there is minimal distinction made between the degree titles today. In some cases, the minimal distinction may be a slightly stronger focus on research in an MS program. However, in many places the differences between the actual degree requirements have been blurred and even erased. Most schools offer one degree or the other and if you look at their actual requirements, you can see no differences between the two. Employers and doctoral programs know this and it is typically not an impediment to advanced educational training or job placement.

@sharmondepaul

Thank you so much for all of the clarification/info!!

@sharomondepaul thank you for the info! very helpful :)

Hi, everyone!!! Congratulations on your acceptance into the MENP program! I too was accepted and am so excited to begin the program and meet all of you!

I saw that some of you were asking about apartments and realized that my husband and I actually have an apartment to rent out starting July located in the building we own and live in. We are located at Fullerton Ave. and California in the Logan Square neighborhood. We are one block away from the California stop of the blue line and less than one block away from the bus stop on Fullerton. We are about 10 minutes away from the Depaul Lincoln Park campus by car. (Maybe we can even carpool together to class! Or even study together! Aahh, the possibilities!!! =P) It's a two bedroom, one bathroom garden unit with laundry units in the building. If interested, please email [email protected] to discuss rental rate and arrange a viewing of the apartment.

I hope to meet some of you at the orientation on May 17th! See you all very soon!

XOXO,

- Thu

Congrats to everyone that is attending DePaul, I am looking to apply to DePaul soon. I was also looking at Rush. Any updates from anyone that has visited the schools. Also where did you take the pre reqs? I have heard of EduKan.org and was curious if anyone took classes there?

Who here is considering the Rosalind Franklin campus for Fall?

Hi everyone! Congrats on your acceptance to DePaul! I start the MENP program in the fall of 2013 and I am super excited! I live in a suburb about an hour away from the city and am considering moving to be closer to school. I commuted for years as an undergrad at DePaul and it's definitely a pain, especially in the winter!

I think I read on another post that student housing isn't available. I know it's expensive to live in the city so I would like to find a roommate. If anyone has any information that you think would help me, please let me know! I am clueless when it comes to renting in the city!
