Denver School of Nursing October 2016 Cohort

Published

Hi everyone! Just wanted to see if anyone out there has applied for October 2016 cohort. I'm pretty sure this 6 week wait will be the longest of my life but it's well worth the wait.

Leesa,

did you use to ride with Tracy Ferguson? If so I rode with/ against you in the adult equitation

Haha yes I did! For like 6 years!

Tracier1, I remember her saying that some courses you wear the scrubs that they provide, and others you just wear whatever scrubs you have

True. Clinical and competencies were wear the DSN scrubs, on lab days we can wear our own.

If you're looking for cheap scrubs I've gotten some of mine at Goodwill and Walmart, as long as you don't mind them not being super cute lol

Hey guys, I actually applied for the April 2017 start...Have a few questions!

Did anyone get in the BSN program with around a 2.7 GPA? I know that's really low, but I have excellent volunteer experiences and a degree. Really dreading having to apply again next year and still having a lower GPA. Maybe I should apply for the ADN program instead?

Also, how does financing work exactly? My credit isn't great, so i'd have to be going off of loans. Will they allow you to receive a loan if you already have some undergrad debt?

Thanks and hope to be seeing all of you at some point in the future!

I'm not sure about the GPA, but for financing yes you are eligible for loans even if you already have undergrad debt, you just aren't eligible for grants. Depending on how much debt you've already taken out, I think there is some sort of lifetime cap. But I had debt and am still eligible. Federal loans give you $5,500 a year of subsidized loans, and $7,000 a year of unsub. Unfortunately if you don't have the cash to pay the rest (those loans only pay for about half), you'll have to take out private loans, and that's where you might run into some trouble with your credit. I would recommend saving up cash!

Jjo7923, thanks!! I'll definitely look at Wal-Mart!

What is the dress code for orientation? Any idea. Casual?

Hi Alexmark. I would imagine that business casual would be good. But maybe I'm old school that way.... I'm sure nobody will hold you over the coals for jeans and a nice top.

Ha, ha! Thanks Lulu6781!!

What's everyone wearing for the first day of class? :)
