DEMN Applying for job

Published

So I am in the UNH Direct Entry Master's in Nursing program. I have finished my first year in the program, and am now in my clinical immersion experience (intensive full time internship in the hospital). We are eligible to sit for the NCLEX in May, and I am thinking about starting to apply for jobs now. Is it a good idea to start applying, even though I have not taken the NCLEX yet? I guess i'm just wondering if places will even look at my application if i don't have my degree in nursing and have not taken the NCLEX yet (I have my bachelor's in Medical Biology, not Nursing)??? If any one has any input i would appreciate it!!!

Hey fellow DEMN,

I have completed about 90% of the UNH DEMN program (I took off for the last semester to have more time at home with family) but just started to look for jobs. I just got a couple of offers back and will make a choice soon, after I get some more travel out of my system ;-)

To answer your question, by all means go ahead and put out some feelers and test the waters. Many settings may likely ignore your request for information, but some may take interest and redirect you to programs for new grads, etc.

PM me if you have any other questions... :uhoh3: DEMN Survivor

Oh my gosh its so great to talk to another DEMN!!! I think we are the only ones who really understand what we have to go through at UNH ;). Thanks for your input, I hope your job search goes well and good luck finishing up the rest of the program!

Well hello there friend/UNH DEMN! :-)

I've started to apply......I dont know if it will get me anywhere, but I'm trying. I sent my resume and cover letter to a few places and applied the the scant few OB/Maternity jobs that I've seen open. I think I have to expand my search into MA, but even there jobs are scarce. And I dont want to go to Boston.
