just a few thoughtful tidbits...
Dean Lily is an 85-year old dean from a very small college in CEBU CITY. We've been in existence since the 1950's. She continued the dream of the late Dr. Jacinto Velez, Sr, to build a college, and produce world class professionals. She has been a very loyal and down to earth follower of that dream, and because of her, many achieved their own personal dreams, one of them is to become a PROFESSIONAL nurse.
And this has been an honor for me to have been under her leadership, since I'm one of her humbled faculty member.
Dean Lily Lumbab, was considered by many a remarkable woman with a big heart. Her heart was centered in Velez, and the institution itself. There is no doubt that you will learn a lot from her. Though at first you get intimidated by her, later on you see the gentle heart slowly coming out into surface...
As one of the faculty of this humble College, losing her causes a great impact:cry:. Not only do I see it in my co-faculty, but also in my students. And many would ask me the SAME questions, who will be the next dean, and what will happen to us, now that we lost a MOTHER.
And I thought, yes, she did start a legacy, but its up to US, her DAUGHTERS and SONS, to continue the legacy started. WE DON'T and should never stop not a minute nor a second...and water down the standards she started, otherwise it would all be pt to waste.
I urge you fellow alumni, to help us strengthen our school, tiny as it may seem but the strongest of all....
HELP us live the legacy, and pass it on to our younger generations, for they will never see the DEAN, and how dedicated she was, the effort she put into building and remodeling us. She was squeezed like a lemon, never tiring, never stopping...always moving on FORWARD...ONWARDS...
IT is up to us to materialize the image of the dean, and make the standards tangible and understandable to the students. Put it into writing, as what she would say...put into writing the things she taught us so we will not forget and so we can pass it on to the future..
God bless to all of us...

after this event, may we become better persons and overcome personal limitations and accept each other. That was how she intrinsically taught me. THATS why we have to band together...and help us...HELP us your CI's...to become better if not the most excellent educators the dean has dreamed of...pray for the SCHOOL...DON'T STOP supporting us.. be it prayers, financial, books, ideas, comments, or updates...
The dean on the outside seemed like a 'closed person' but actually she was well updated, and she does know what is going on outside velez...Her counsel was well sought after by other deans...because of her maturity, and wisdom...THAT i pray we hope (I hope for my own sake) that I inherit....Even though I haven't rubbed shoulders with her...I do pray she rubbed her SPIRIT in me...:)
PS...
if anyone read this...I guess you can also pray for us...and become better nurses too...because the WORLD needs GOOD, Excellent and Competent nurses...
God bless to all of us:heartbeat:heartbeat
