how to deal with favoritism

I'm wondering how any of you have dealt with favoritism, ie., giving some people more work intensive assignments and others either more interesting assignments and/or less work intensive. I have been running my behind off lately (most often) while some people (in with the clique) get a better assignment. I am sick of it. I haven't said anything because I am afraid to rock the boat with certain charge nurses. But I just can't do this for much longer. I need to be rotated. I have considered accepting a new job at a different ED, but do like some of the people I work with and worry it's like this everywhere.

Maybe they don't even realize what is happening. You should discuss the matter before going to another job. If it can't be resolved, then look at the next step.

Maybe management doesn't know, but the people sticking certain nurses in crappy assignments know what they are doing. I'm going to speak with management and also have a job lined up too.
