Deadline Application ?

Hello Everyone,

I was hoping to receive some possible options, information, or experiences with my situation.

I was gearing up to apply to South Alabama for the spring semester. (deadline is sept. 1). However, I am lacking the Hep B's and TB test which both take more than a few weeks to complete. These of course are requirements for applying.

Here is my story. I was awarded a scholarship at my current school to study abroad, I could not pass this opportunity up, and I stayed a month in Europe. After returning in mid July, I had some medical complications, well actually lets call them freak occurrences. I was all geared up to knock out these shots and apply for school when the medical problems occurred. To make a long story short the doctor advised me to postpone anything until we had everything under control. In case you are wondering what happened. One situation was a seizure after outpatient surgery.

My questions are: does anyone know if they would allow special circumstances with proof of documents? Is there a waiver form for the immunization shots? Any answers would be appreciated, I am going to call them tomorrow or Monday, but I know by posting here I can get good answers. Also hopefully help someone out there that might end up in my shoes.

thanks

Hello Everyone,

Who told you they take more than a few weeks? My blood tests only took about a week to get back from the lab and the PPD also only takes about a week. I'd check that again or go to another doctor.

TB tests just take two days. You go in the first day and they inject just under your skin, then two days later you go in and they tell you if you're positive or negative.

The Hep B does take a while for the series of three shots (6 + months).....but I know my school doesn't require you to have the series finished....just that you're in progress with it.

Talk to your school and see what they recommend. I wouldn't use the word waiver, I'd just lay out your situation and see what they say.

Peace,

CuriousMe

The two step TB can take a few weeks, but I would agree that calling your school and finding out what you have to have done in terms of having these completed or merely started is where you should begin.
