DEA Investigation

Hello All 

I am hoping to hear anyone who has experience the same or similar incident. My uncle is a NP in California and is being investigated by the DEA for writing a prescription for former coworker and friend who is also a NP.  He feels awful and is terrified he will lose everything. He has contacted an attorney but is rightfully scared this end his career. For those in similar situations what can my uncle expect? TIA
