Dcccd?

Is there anyone on this board who can share their experience in having gone through or currently attends the Dallas County Community College District's Nursing Program? I have heard a few horror stories and I wonder if things are really that hard at DCCCD?

Sorry to be the one to tell you this but I have yet to hear of a nursing program that wasn't hard. Nursing school overall is very time-consuming and busy so be prepared to put 110% into it. All the best...

Well, I know one girl that went 1 semester, and didn't go back. I'm not sure of reasons, but she said she plans on taking a pharmacology class before going back.

I'm trying for DCCCD as well. Good luck! :)

I am starting my senior year at DCCCD.

For me it hasn't been that hard. I study my a$$ off though. It is very time consuming and definately NOT easy. DCCCD is very big on Pharm. It was not a prereq for my particular program but dont let that fool you. They have a pharm test every semester and it is a Dont pass and your out sort of situation. That has been the most difficult part of nursing school for me. The best way I know to cope is to study your drug classes.

I am taking pharm online this summer and it is helping tons.

Good luck!!

PM me if you want to know more.

im about to become a senior at a high school and want to pursue a degree in nursing. i really want to become an RN but dont know which university to do some of my science courses at. either TWU or UTA which is better and why?

Thanks,

hi, fehz

I would take preq for both TWU and UTA b/e both school recieve over a 1000 applications for only 80-120 spots. I decided to go to TWU nursing program, just b/e I enjoyed the nursing staff and they are ranked according to US world news and report. I did get a interview with UTA just decided on TWU. Both school are great so try for both. Try and do good on your preq so that u can get into nursing school on your first try.

I agree with that. Also you can find out what was the lowest GPA the school accepted last semester. Usually somewhere around 3.8 or so. This helps because it tells you what you have to beat to get in.

I went the community college route and had great experiences with small classes and professors who knew who I was. Plus everyone there is also pre-RN so it is easy to make friends and form study groups.

Good luck to you!!!
