I start RT school in the fall and although I know you are an RN and not a RT can you direct me to some good RT sites/inormation if you are aware of them? I am amazed at th amount of information you have and offer people. I Thankyou for that as I have learned so much jsut by eading here. My plan is to maybe one day bridge over to RN but right now am drawn to repsiratory.
Much of the information you post I know will be beneficial to me as an RT as well....it will help me understand everyone's roles and job descriptions. Again, Thankyou

gee! no, i don't have any websites except the critical care one for respiratory. i was trying to find some stuff on ventilators last weekend to post on the nursing procedure sticky and wasn't finding anything, but i may not have been looking in the right place.
see the weblinks on post #14 of this sticky thread in nursing student assistant forum:
good luck with your school. i have a lot of respect for rts. i worked on a stepdown for many years where we had a lot of patients with trachs, et tubes and ventilators. an rt taught me how to do nasotracheal suctioning. my nursing class was increased by 10 students because the rt program at the school had to close and they gave those students the option to go into the nursing program. after we graduated several of those students ended up working in respiratory icus! one went on to become a nurse anesthetist.
p.s. when i had my 5-months of hyperbaric oxygen a couple of years ago, it was rts who were monitoring the chambers--100% oxygen baby!
Thanks so much....it definitely is a respected field as is "ALL" medical, however at this time in my life it seems the perfect fit for me. If I do come accross something, I would appreciate it if you let me know...I ck in almost everyday, even if I don't post.
You are a wealth of knowledge!
