DAYTONA STATE NURSING FALL 2020

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hi there! This is my first time posting here so thank you kindly for reading this. Has anyone on here applied for the fall 2020 ADN program at Daytona State College? I'm very nervous because I did not get to take the TEAS due to COVID-19, which they are allowing us this time around to submit without TEAS scores. I'm finishing my last co-req right now online (oral communications I saved for last because I was DREADING it!) and I do have a GPA of 3.81 currently. Was just curious to see who else is applying maybe make a few friends!

I will be contacting the health department on Monday to obtain a copy of my records. This information that you provided has been super helpful. Thanks again ?

Anytime. ? Happy to help!

Hey ladies! I also applied in May and thankfully I took my TEAS over Spring break right before Covid really hit. That test was no joke and I'm so glad it's over! Use the ATI TEAS secret from Amazon, that was super helpful for me! I have a friend who had her TEAS scheduled and then got cancelled due to covid and she is now going Monday to test. She was told they are calling the list that the nursing dept gave them. I know some who applied but don't have their co-reqs complete that did not get the call and we are thinking they might just be sticking with Category 1. I confirmed when they called me (even though I had already tested) that there were over 400 applicants for Fall and I'm NERVOUS! They only take 150 per semester and I'm praying I get in! I had a 3.95 then a grade I thought was considered an incomplete transferred and I'm now at a 3.79?. I have all my pre & co reqs done and I'm impatiently waiting for that letter. Good luck to everyone on the TEAS. That test is no joke, 4 hours and $85! You normally have the option to take it 2x per year after waiting 30 days, so I say take it asap and if you don't pass get in line for a second attempt.

WOW! that’s a lot of applicants! ?

I know! The lady mentioned this is the most they have seen in a while. I think more people applied this time that aren't in category 1 as some of the advisors were saying to go ahead. I have always wanted to wait because I knew my chances were slim if so many others had all the requirements met. I dont know if any of you saw on the advisor form if you previously worked in healthcare you can get a letter from your employer or past employer that gives you an extra point on the application. I added a pic to show what I mean. I also added my TEAS report so everyone knows what to look for. Essentially proficient is passing. I wish my score was higher but there was no chance I was taking that test again. I have spoke to several current nursing students and they have all said the TEAS is only really looked at for a tie breaker between gpas. So as long as you pass it should be fine. Had anyone taken their's yet?Screenshot_20200626-112553_OneDrive.thumb.jpg.9ac0b6e7d934ad961313182792100b3e.jpg

I think you have a great chance at being accepted!! I’m a little bit more nervous now that I know how many people applied but I’m hoping for the best. Hopefully the letters arrive soon!

Looks like you have a good chance of getting in?I thought they went by Highest cumulative GPA for all courses taken in college. Do they only go by the ones listed above on the points worksheet? Just trying to see where I stand GPA/category wise with so many applicants this semester!

I'm not 100% sure, I had heard it was cumulative GPA as well. This sheet came from advising in the original packets they would have submitted for us which makes it seem like just those classes/points, but I'm honestly not sure.

They switched it to a point system and no longer go by cumulative GPA but I still think we all have a good chance of getting in !

Did anyone receive their letter yet ? I hope we get them soon !

Thank you for the Info! I think the point system is a great idea I just didn’t know about the change. I’m hoping we get letters within the next week! Fingers crossed for everyone!

That makes me so happy to know. As my 1 poor grade was not on this list yay!!
