I wanted to get some feedback on working at Davita as an LVN. my understanding is that LVNs are trained and do the same as PCT. My background is home health and SNF and I am trying to get a better understanding. I do have the opportunity to shadow but would like to hear an honest opinion from someone in the job currently. Any feedback would be great thank you.

You are correct. You will work as a pct, setting up machines, putting patients on, monitoring them, giving meds. Taking them off, cleaning machines and starting again for the next shift. Then you'll learn how to start the water system, mix bicarb and acid, do water checks, bleach the system, disinfect machines. You'll do medication reviews with patients, do other tasks to help the RNs. Basically working like a dog. Because you do pct stuff as well as nurse stuff. In my clinic the LVNs were expected to function in either role at any time.

Thanks for the response GeauxNursing. That's what I needed to know. I don't think I would like that maybe fresh out of school yes but not now when I'm used to being on my own in home health. Thanks for confirming what I already thought.
