Davenport University Fall 2009

Published

I took the HESI (95) today and sent my application. Time for the 8-10 week wait! I thought I would start a thread to see if there are any other hopefuls out there.

Any other Midland students want to meet for lunch and start to get to know each other? We are going to be spending the next two years together!

Hey SarahM, I got my letter Saturday too, Midland Campus. Let me know if you get some people together for lunch, it would take alot of stress away knowing some people before hand.

Congrats, kfritz. Let's just set something up, and if other people can go that would be better. I do not work, so I am almost always available.

The acceptance packet was kind of vague. We have to get our health forms, but it does not say by when. I found the forms in last years SOHP handbook, there is not a handbook posted for this year. Has anyone talked to an advisor yet? I don't even really know who to call, I will just start calling. Like, how do we sign up for our classes. I remember being told our advisors would do it with us.

Anyways, if anyone talks to anyone and get any info, post it for the rest of us, please!

Sarah

Hey Sarah. My friend was is in the LPN program right now. She said that we should be receiving a nursing packet with the health forms and immunizations requirements. Don't know about registering for classes though. I will try and find out. I have called different people and emailed them, but no one has been back with me. I will let you know if I find out anything!

Hi Everyone,

The nursing Advisor From the Warren campus emailed me today the info we need. She said this:

You will be receiving more information re: health forms, CPR, etc next week from the nursing office. For your CPR certification, you will need the BLS Certified for nursing. It is both infant & adult. I suggest contacting the American Red Cross for this.

I will contact you next week regarding which times you would like your classes - please be sure to send in your deposit asap.

The orientation is scheduled for August 25th. I am hearing though that they may be changing this. I understand the urgency as everyone has to plan around this so I'm pushing them for a confirmation asap!

Thanks for the info, Shara!

One confusing part of that email - BLS is provided by the AHA, not Red Cross. Red Cross does have a healthcare professional CPR. I have been searching for BLS classes, and I am not having much luck, the AHA website doesn't show any scheduled from now to classes start. I am checking local hospitals right now.

I called the Red Cross in Monroe. They do offer the BLS certification classes there. She said all the Red Cross locations do. At Monroe they are offered next WED and Thurs from 6-10 P.M.

I found a class at Genesys. It only $50, so that's a little cheaper. Thanks!

Hey all u Midland students!!! I'm looking forward to seeing u all and working hard with u all the next 2 years! I'd like to do a lunch sometime also maybe in a week or two to get to know u. I live in Caro...where are u all from? Let's try to set something up!

Melissa - :w00t:

I'm in Flint. My friend owns a cute lunch deli in Mayville. That may be a drive for some people, though, but it is def. closer to Caro.

I live in Clio. Im very flexible as toward the location but I am work 3 12 hour shifts a week usually so just let me know.

Sarah are you commuting? If you are, and our classes are similar maybe we could car pool.
