  1. I went today to get my PPD read at the hospice that I volunteer for. Even though there were many RN's in the building, no one was available to read it because the RN that is "the only one specially trained to do it" called off work today. I have worked in Home/Hospice care as an administrator, and have NEVER heard that an RN needed special training to read a PPD. I am assuming they are JCAHO certified, possibly CHAP. I asked if it was an internal policy, but they said they didn't know, that's just what they have been told. Any know if they are correct on this? I won't be able to change their mind, but I would like to try to find out for my own knowledge. Thanks!
  2. My bad. :) So we are definitely doing lunch Wednesday at 1pm, if you want to come pm me and I'll give you the info.!
  3. Well, I haven't decided yet. I have a cabin in Beaverton, it is a little closer, I was kind of considering living there. But more likely than not, yes. I would love to carpool. Send me a pm, maybe we can purposefully try to get the same classes/clinicals and share the ride.
  4. I'm in Flint. My friend owns a cute lunch deli in Mayville. That may be a drive for some people, though, but it is def. closer to Caro.
  5. I found a class at Genesys. It only $50, so that's a little cheaper. Thanks!
  6. Thanks for the info, Shara! One confusing part of that email - BLS is provided by the AHA, not Red Cross. Red Cross does have a healthcare professional CPR. I have been searching for BLS classes, and I am not having much luck, the AHA website doesn't show any scheduled from now to classes start. I am checking local hospitals right now.
  7. Congrats, kfritz. Let's just set something up, and if other people can go that would be better. I do not work, so I am almost always available. The acceptance packet was kind of vague. We have to get our health forms, but it does not say by when. I found the forms in last years SOHP handbook, there is not a handbook posted for this year. Has anyone talked to an advisor yet? I don't even really know who to call, I will just start calling. Like, how do we sign up for our classes. I remember being told our advisors would do it with us. Anyways, if anyone talks to anyone and get any info, post it for the rest of us, please! Sarah
  8. Any other Midland students want to meet for lunch and start to get to know each other? We are going to be spending the next two years together!
  9. I got my acceptance letter, today, too. Midland Campus.
  10. Suns up- Can I ask what your GPA and HESI score is? I am trying to get a feel for the cut off, and if you were on the alternates, then you were close!
  11. I am driving my application to the registrar tomorrow. LOL. I am neurotic about knowing that it is there and safe. Sounds crazy, I know. I am so nervous, also. That is why I started this thread, I thought maybe some of us could do the torturous wait together! I hope we are classmates in the fall! :)
  12. I have a 3.92 GPA, but that is including all of my classes from my first degree (Business). I have a 4.0 in all of the required pre-reqs. Can I ask how you did on your HESI? I didn't really know what is considered a good score. I don't know what the "cut-off" is, I really don't think there is one, specifically, I think it is just the top students. I have heard so many different things, one advisor that didn't really seem to know what he was talking about said that over 600 people applied last year, so I knew that I had to get all 4.0s and get a good grade on the HESI to try to wiggle my way into a spot.
  13. I took the HESI (95) today and sent my application. Time for the 8-10 week wait! I thought I would start a thread to see if there are any other hopefuls out there.
