I am currently a senior in high school looking to pursue my BSN in the fall of next year. I am aware that I would be able to handle it the first two years as they are prerequisites but when clinicals start junior year is that still feasible? In high school I have managed AP classes, working part time and doing dance and this year I am in a health careers exposure program which involves a lot of work each week plus Aps, dance and work and its stressful but doable. But I always hear how hard nursing school is and then there is clinical time so does anyone think it's possible?

You can do it, because God willing in the fall of 2014 I plan on doing the same thing.

I think it would be doable, time-wise. There should always be time to do things you enjoy.
The only problem I foresee would be the way NS seems to think they own you. If you have practice /rehearsal/whatever you call it on Thursdays and you're assigned clinicals on Thursdays, you're SOL. That goes for any of the million commitments they might expect out of you.
So I'd definitely go for it and do your best to make it work. Worst case scenario, it doesn't work, but you did your best :)

Dance doesn't take nearly as much time as people think if all you're doing is some classes here and there. I was a dance major (I have my BFA from Ohio State) and didn't think it was much of a problem unless you're looking to go professional. Then, that requires a lot of dedication by taking dance and theory every waking moment.
Just be careful with injuries, though. If you get hurt, like a broken leg or something, you won't be able to participate in clinical and will be held back.

I would be one to agree that generally speaking anything is possible. The only potential issue that I can foresee is a conflict between dance class and your nursing school clinical time. The big problem with nursing school is that they require a certain amount of clinical hours, and you can only miss a certain number of hours before they drop you from the program. You will have to decide whether or not you are willing to potentially sacrifice your dance time for clinical time in nursing school.
You are correct in your understanding that typically a BSN program has 2 years of prerequisites, and then 2 – 3 years of nursing school itself so I would expect that the first 2 years would be the easiest as far as coordinating dancing with the rest of your schoolwork.
Good luck in your future endeavors and I wish you all the best!
