Dallas vs. Houston

Which city is best, Dallas or Houston?

I'll be graduating in December. I would like to work in critical care.

I'm young and single so I'd like to be somewhere where there's a lot to do. I love the beach so I was leaning more towards Houston since its closer to the beach. I would of course like to be in a safe area as well.

Which city would benefit me more? What are some good hospitals and places to live in each city? Is the pay and cost of living the same?

Any information would be helpful...Thanks.

I grew up in Houston, and I currently live in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. They are fairly comparable in cost of living and pay. Houston is near the gulf, but there are several lakes in DFW. Maybe you can visit both for a weekend, and see which atmosphere you like best?

I personally like Dallas better... I think the nightlife is better and safer than Houston and there is sooooo much to do! Houston is pretty crowded, but so is Dallas sometimes. I'm also graduating in December and I'm planning on moving to Dallas or Fort Worth. Downtown in both cities is pretty good and they're not that far from each other. Good luck in deciding!

Theres more things to do in Houston, the nightlife is all the same, with Houston having more clubs etc. Your not limited to just the nightlife, theres also the beach in Galveston not to mention the lakes, rivers that surround the city. Nightlife handsdown goes to Austin..not even close if that place actually had a major league team of some sort id move in a hearbeat.

Personally, I like Fort Worth best and then Houston. IMHO, the amenities are very similar, but each city has its own ambiance. That's why I recommend making a visit :)
