da Vinci Prostatectomy

Hey guys ... I get to be in a robotic radical prostatectomy in the morning and was wondering if anyone's had the chance to see this machine in use? That includes, CRNAs, SRNAs, AAs, MDAs and OR staff! I'm excited about it ... :)

We have one here at ORMC...they crowd it into our little corner of the or when it is not being used. Why does the anesthesia space keep getting smaller and smaller? They think that the robot is cutting edge, but it is so darn big! I thought small was technosexy!

They have been using it on some gyn procedures.

Wonder what the outcomes for these procedures are or if it is just a marketing ploy...anyone post some lit?

I'm starting to understand the advantages, but still haven't done a case with one yet.

Apparently, the robotic instruments aren't limited by normal range of motion that you would have if you operated instruments manually. I watched their promotional video, and it was pretty impressive. Supposedly, once you get through the learning curve, things go much quicker.
