Los Angeles Valley College requirement for nursing program needs to have cut score 80 or above. Does anyone know how to determine the cut score? Thank you.

I have wondered about that also. When I asked they said it's a set of criteria they look at but they never go in details. Have u tried calling and asking?

I send an email to a nursing director about the grade point average, but she hasn't reply me back. I'll update as soon I get an answer. Fyi: I'm so frustrated that I've been not accepted to the program.... I am decent student, my grades are A's and B's and this happened bc I've been working full time and I was a full time student too. My only concerned that my C grade in anatomy and I feel like this is the only grade that's holding me back from getting into the program. Hopefully one school will accept me in 2017. So sad....

Don't give up! Try to apply to as many as you can. Has Valley called you yet or had the director replied?

After I called and emailed LAVC several times, I finally found the answers how to improve my GPA, and why I'm below the cut score 80.

So they told me that my overall college GPA and science GPA is good. But what is hurting me that I retake some courses so many time. I did dropped Anatomy twice with a Ws and retake the 3rd with a C grade. This retaking course resulted my score to 65.... (how sad... just bc the Ws, and i dont even failed the course the school don't accept me.)

So in order to improve my or boost my cut score, I have to take more classes. Any classes such as English, math, or more sciences OR they said I could look another schools that would except or have low score (heart breaking)....

After the conversation, I don't what to do, I am

Hey any updates with your situation, am currently in the same boat.

I really lost the drive after they told me that they miscalculated my cut score.

First my cut score was 80 above and all of a sudden they called me saying the old administration miscounted my cut score.

Now i dont know what to do. A friend of mine is in the same situation and have taken 3 classes to raise up that GPA so

that cut score can go up. After taking that 3 classes with A grade. Gpa didnt even went up.

I really dont want to waste more semester just because I keep pushing myself to get in Valley.

I rather look at other colleges

you guys should really consider LATTC they have a 1-2 semester wait and it is something to look into as a back up plan because with the cut score it makes it hard for a lot of people and also pierce has no cut score those two are worth looking into.

I have good grades with no retakes but what hurts me is I scored low on the teas (yes i passed) but it was low so the schools that have a point semester don't work for me because i hardly get points in the teas area. So the schools that do random selection are pretty much my only hope and LATTC since they have a waitlist:)

Best of luck to you guys, but don't give up:)

HI there, I've applied LAVC too, but no luck, so I applied to LATTC. I'm on the waitlist at LATTC and will be in the program in FALL 2018. LATTC is great campus. The school doesn't count the W's toward your GPA. I am so happy.

The nursing advisor told me that I should take more classes to raise my GPA. Smh, girl... I have no time for this.. don't give me wrong, I love nursing and I will not give up to apply for the program, but I'll not take more classes. Take classes to raise GPA is just waste my time and money and the GPA it will not much change either. So I'm going to LATTC.
