Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Haven't yet seen a thread for this program and wanted to start a discussion to keep updated on if anyone hears a decision and just to open a discussion for people who applied to the program!

CONGRATS on getting accepted Parkingarea123! Have you decided if you'll accept yet?

Thanks! No decision yet, I plan to make a decision in the next week.

Hi all,

I know this is an older thread, but I was hoping to get some insight from current students that ended up pursuing the Curry ACCEL program. I was just admitted for Spring 2021 and I am thrilled, but I was hoping to get some perspective on how the program has been from an honest first-hand perspective and also make some connections that may be looking to sell books etc.

CONGRATS Nrd on being accepted!

Orientation is tomorrow, virtually, for the 2020 Fall semester so we haven't started yet. As it stands now we'll start on 31 August.

Some things you may want to be aware of is they are operating slowly right now, but I'm sure that's due to us being the first class to start since COVID-19 hit. They did put out that the program might be extended to 20 months due to clinical placement and other variables so I'd keep an eye out for that.

The biggest issue right now is they set up all of the books into 3 "bundles" for you to purchase from the school store. I placed my order the day they made the announcement and bundle 2 is still on back ordered after over a month. The only way to get this information is to log into their school store and see your order status. When I called them they didn't know when the books would be in and didn't know if they'd arrive before class. It would just be nice if they communicated that to everyone since they told me they had already told the program coordinator.

Depending on the order of classes you end up taking I'm sure I'll be selling most of my books.

Again, CONGRATS and I hope you do well in your classes.

@Ranjo31880 That’s right! I don’t know why I thought you started last fall sorry for the blank!!

Regardless thank you for this information it was very insightful. Are the bundles for each semester? And if so what was the price for them? I’m trying to get a good estimate of pricing. I’m sorry they’re so behind that’s very frustrating and also very good to know so I plan in advance, are your classes in person or online?

Thank you again your insight is appreciated!

@Nrd So for everything you need for the first semester, including 2 pair scrubs, stethoscope, books, etc. it was $1,441.05. Keep in mind that's just for the first semester.

@Ranjo31880 thank you!! This was super helpful. Wishing you the best of luck :)

Has anyone taken professor Bastarache for pharmacology and if so do you have any advice on taking her class or a review of how she is as a teacher? I really appreciate it!

Hi everyone, I know this is an old thread but I figured I'd try anyway. I got accepted last week to the Fall 2022 Plymouth cohort and was hoping to connect with or hear from anyone else who has gone through the program specifically in the Plymouth location! There is so much info about the Spring/Milton cohorts but I am interested to hear about Plymouth too ? I drove down to Cordage Park a few days ago just to look around, and it's definitely a bizarre little spot that quite frankly has no business really calling itself a "campus" as it seems much more just like a small satellite location but I'm very excited for the Curry ABSN program regardless!

First, congrats on getting accepted into the program. I graduated from the Plymouth ACCEL group in Dec of 21, just last year.

Let me say that your opinion of the place is correct, it's just a satellite campus at this point. They did just open up a student section where you can eat and hang out to talk after class so they ae working on it. With that being said...bring a lunch because there's nothing open or you're rushing to get food and come back between classes. But to be honest it doesn't matter near as much as what you learn.

I'll be the first to admit that I was skeptical while going through the program, that is until I met other schools during clinicals. There really is a difference in what and how much you learn vs other schools. The professors there are VERY reasonable at working with you, but know it will be VERY hard at time. Pharm class still gives me nightmares but they extended it now due to feedback.

I'm trying to look for the statistics, but I believe all 25ish people in my cohort passed, as did the ACCEL group before us. The NCLEX shut off at 82 questions for me and I felt horrible, but I passed and that's a story for after you're past the half-way point in the program.

Congrats again and good luck!

Thank you so much for your reply Ranjo! I sooo apreciate your response. Congratulations on graduating! It's great to hear that Curry made you feel supported and well-prepared. I am so excited to begin this August!!
