I realize that OP said that accreditation is 'in the works', but without a 'director' of nursing care, it simply isn't going to happen. Physicians cannot direct nursing care... they can only direct medical care. Unless, of course that MD is also an RN - LOL - it would appear that OP is the 'senior' nurse at this mom&pop company. As such, she should have a salary commensurate to that role. I can't believe they aren't even paying mileage.... but I would bet that they are adding that expense into their patient care costs for purposes of reimbursement. Sounds all kind of messed up.

I currently work as a assistant clinical supervisor for a start up home care agency I have been doing this for 3 years now. the agency is awaiting there final result for Medicare and Medicaid certification. I have been driving 60 miles one way everyday to the main office and then seeing all the patients in the field I make $25.00 per hour and currently not charging for mileage. I am also responsible for all the admissions and Discharges. The Main Clinical supervisor is a family practice MD and The president of the company is his wife who is a MSW with little experience. I have no form of retirement and have to pay for my own medical insurance. Prior to home care I was an ambulatory care nurse for a family practice for 10 years then prior to that 5 years of skilled nursing on a long term care ventilator unit. I am currently not happy with the home care job , I LOVE Ambulatory care. Should I return to What I love and am I getting under paid at this time.
