Current New Grad Pay in Tulsa area and OKC

Published

I am graduating from an associates degree nursing program in Spring 2012. I have been offered a summer extern position for this current summer, however, the hospital that I am doing it with wants me to sign a 2 year work commitment contract. Before I decide to sign and commit to it I want to get an idea of what an acceptable starting salary is for new grads in the Tulsa/OKC areas. I use to work at a major hospital in Tulsa as a nurse aid back in 2008, and they started their new grads at $20/hr. Has this changed much? Thanks in advance to all that reply! I appreciate the info! Also is it a new thing that hospitals are having their externs sign contracts now?

Thanks again!

I can only speak for the OKC area. All of the major hospitals in the area are paying new grads in the $18 to $20 hourly range.

OKC here as well. I work a M-F 8-5 job as an employee of OU medical center, I do not earn any differentials. I was hired with 4 yrs RN experience and I am making LOW 20's per hour.

Hillcrest came to our school this semester and gave a lunch presentation on what they offer students and new grads. Starting pay for a new grad there is $19.90 with very nice shift differentials. If you worked nights and weekends your pay, as a new grad, would be nearly $30/hr. After one year you would "move up" on the pay scale. They didn't say what the pay would be for the different nursing levels. But depending on what unit you work on would depend if you were a level 1,2,3 or 4 nurse, and would be payed accordingly.

Hi, I was just wondering which ADN program did you go to in Tulsa and which hospital is offering that amount. I am seriously thinking of going for my ADN vs. BSN because I want to start working and make some sort of income. Maybe in the future I will pursue my BSN. Any additional help would greatly appreciated!

I started at Children's Hospital in OKC as a new grad with a starting wage of 19.15/hr. Within 7 months of hire I was up to 20.81/hr.
