Hey all,

i am looking for some information about Banner in general. I work in the HH system but have been casually offered a position at a Banner ICU as an aide.

Is anyone within the Banner Network able to answer some questions for me. I've heard a lot of contradictory information.

Do they offer Tuiton reimbursement or prepayment? I have prepayment right now and it is absolutely amazing. I've heard that Banner no longer offers any tuition assistance.

Are aides able to ‘self schedule'? I get to make my own schedule right now and use as much or little PTO as I want during the the semester. In general are your managers flexible with scheduling?

Are PCAs at Banner still able to do Foley's, etc. We are not longer able to at HH and would like to be some where I can continue to use my skills.

Hi!

I work for Banner as an ICU RN. I hope I can answer your questions.

1. They offer tuition reimbursement after 6 months of employment, but it is hard to come by.

2. We do use self-scheduling, but if you're full time, you will work every other weekend. Most managers are accommodating to school schedules.

3. PCAs can D/C foleys and draw blood after Banner trains you on "their" way to do it. PCAs cannot insert foleys though.

Are you a New Grad? If my memory serves me correctly it wasn't long ago you were a student.

I really want to land in the ICU or the ER as a new grad. It seems more difficult to get into the ER as a tech than the ICU.

I am a new grad! And yes, ED tends to be more difficult to get into than ICU. ED techs are predominately EMTs, so they do more skills type things. It's kind of the same thing as a new grad; ICU is a little easier to land than ED.
